I’ve been looking forward to working with Jodi and Bob for a while! We hit a great day weather-wise, with only a couple snow showers to dodge and big clouds blowing across the Penn State sky. Jodi and Bob had a bunch of ideas, including hitting the Creamery at 11AM, getting photos by the Lion Shrine and Nittany Lion Inn, and then of course, some shots down by Old Main and Downtown. Then they suggested a great idea – The Diner is one of their favorite spots, so heck, let’s get photos there! There was no problem getting in and letting us use a booth, and we even got some glass-clinking-for-a-kiss from the college students. Good times for all, and I am looking forward to their wedding coming up in DC this June!

Salsa the Dog loves Freeze Thaw’s new BPA-free waterbottles! I recently got done photographing the crew at Freeze Thaw Cycles showing off their new threads and gear, and we got some really great photos despite Arctic temperatures and my frozen trigger finger! I guess it wasn’t so bad… Jordyn and Clay braved it in cycling shorts. I always find an excuse to check out their amazing shop in downtown State College. So much bike-bling and bike-knowledge, it’s hard to stay focused.

You just can’t go wrong with a fall wedding in State College… Susie and Brad had glorious sunshine all day long for their wedding, and we had a lot of fun getting those formal pictures at Spring Creek Park with Susie’s veil and the wind playing nicely. The formal shots inside the church were also a lot of fun with the big families, and watching Susie’s Marshmallow Bunny impression at the reception was hilarious. And I really enjoyed the wonderful moments when Susie and Brad were dancing towards the end of the night… Best wishes to the couple!

I just got back about 10 rolls of film that was sitting (sadly!) in my fridge, waiting to be magically developed. Every once in a while, I will shoot a roll and then stick it in a Ziploc bag and forget about it. When I got back the scans last night, I realized how much I still love the look of film and how my subjects change when I shoot with film cameras… I am sorry, but digital film effects are to film as Splenda is to sugar: the taste just isn’t 100% there. Anyway, these photos have a bit of personal narrative from over the past two years – the photos range from the MS City to Shore ride, State College shots, Taiwan, DC, and a recent trip to Avalon, NJ. Enjoy!

When Jan Thiessen asked me to be his second photographer for Monica and Karthik’s wedding, I was super-excited to learn about the scope of their wedding: two days, three events, dancing, Indian food, lots of guests, and a helicopter. A helicopter. Not to mention Monica and Karthik are a fantastic couple to photograph, and the guests at the parties laid-it-down-hard when it came to dancing. I always have a lot of fun working with Jan, and check out his gallery and photos here: Photos By Jan.
Here is my take on Monica and Karthik’s Wedding Gallery. Enjoy!

I feel that Erin and Matt’s wedding had a lot of attention paid to the details – from Erin’s wonderful veil to the choir practicing all afternoon to the very excellent reception. Everything was tip-top, and it was delightful to be a part of it. I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with Erin and Matt right after the wedding: as all the usual craziness was happening, they were having a sweet moment by a window in the church, which was perfectly lit and just a really nice pose. We had some fun with everyone posing in the Alumni Gardens, and then the guests laid down some serious dancing at the reception at General Potter’s Farm. Simply a hoot.

Ahh, another year, another ’101. At least this year they had drier conditions to race in, as I am sure not many racers missed the fog and soggy rocks. Like clockwork, the leaders came bombing in a little before 9 AM, and the steady stream of riders crossing Three Bridges and the Stupid Rock Garden lasted past 10. Shooting conditions were ideal, as I was able to use the bright spots in the trees to create the speed streaks. And it was great seeing the familiar faces out there riding.

As always, if you don’t see yourself here, just send me an email and I will see if I can find you. Thanks!

Set in the wonderful backdrop of the Toftrees Resort in State College, PA, Katie and Austin had their sweet ceremony on the croquet courts and the reception in the main hall. I had a great time during the pre-ceremony shots with Katie and the bridesmaids, working with this gorgeous, singular mirror in their suite. Katie’s wonderful eyes and the charming Mr. Austin made for some great formal images, and the reception photos were full of cupcakes, cigars, and conversations. Plus that crazy guy doing the worm and the other guy doing ninja moves. Yowza!

I flipped out when I found out these two were just dating, but to find out that Matt dropped the knee and put a ring on Roxanne made my week. I met Matt and Roxanne separately at two very different times of my life, and I never would have thought that they would meet and eventually get married. Matt shares my love of Rwanda and cycling, and Roxanne is one of those fun people who brightens your day. Needless to say, their engagement pictures share a lot about their personalities and love for each other.

I had met Matt and Leah last year at the famous wedding of Meghan and Mike. By the time I was done photographing Matt and Leah’s wedding, I had a great sense of the very special friendship they have within their romantic relationship. And trying to capture that in photographs was challenging and fun at the same time.
I enjoyed spending time with the Leah and ladies as they prepared for the day, and with Matt and the boys out by the river in Bellefonte after the ceremony. We had great weather for photographs outside, and the reception had lots of fun and crazy moments to capture as well.
Here is a collection of Leah and Matt’s Wedding Photo Gallery.
