Betsy and Chris's Wedding Gallery

I think what made Betsy and Chris’ wedding so much fun was how all the members of the bridal party were friends – they all just seemed to have a great time being around each other. We did the formal pictures around the Ol’ Nittany Lion beforehand, as well as other family shots inside the Eisenhower Chapel. Ducks at the pond and a trolly ride topped off the portraits. Then came the real fun – I have never seen group dancing quite like this. Dance lines, people on chairs, the limbo… I think the ensuing zaniness really shows Betsy and Chris’ personalities quite well.

Here is a view of Betsy and Chris’ Wedding Gallery.

Megan and Sam's Wedding Gallery

Megan and Sam’s wedding was so beautiful with all the ceremony and tradition that went into their Orthodox wedding. The church very intimate, which made getting the right angles a bit harder than usual, but moving around the church and getting candids of all their guests was easily done. We had some great weather for the formal shots on campus, and the reception was held at the very scenic Mount Nittany Inn. Some really great swing and ballroom dancing filled up the night. Thank you so much, Megan and Sam – it really did feel like I was a part of your celebration.

PSU Cycling: Easterns 2009

Wow… I am so sorry I missed out photographing most of PSU Cycling Road Season! If anything, I managed to get to the best event, which was the Easterns Championship Frat-Row Crit, in downtown State College, PA. Lots of thrills and spills over the bumpy wet pavement on Turn Four, and yet combined with the road ride the day before, PSU trounced the competition to win the weekend.

Here is a selection from PSU Cycling: Easterns 2009 Gallery.

PSU Graduate Portraits

My friend Roxanne contacted me as soon as I got back into the country, wanting some pictures with her graduating roommates before they separated ways. We had some warm afternoon sunlight hinting through the trees, which lit up the shrine perfectly for portraits around it. Shooting silhouettes is becoming a favorite thing to do, and we had brilliant yellows as a background for portrait rim lighting. The ladies posed wonderfully, and I hope these pictures carry wonderful memories from PSU.

Here are a few images from the Penn State Graduate Portraits Gallery.

Tussey Log Jam/Big Air Competition 2009

Here are some shots from one of the more exciting events from this season – Tussey’s Log Jam/Big Air Competition. I just got one of Canon’s new cameras, so I have been wanting to really put it through the stress test of high-contrast, fast action subjects. Plus I love snowboarding. And watching people who are fifty-times better than I ever will be. I took some designer liberties and jacked the saturation and said good-bye to conventional colors, so I hope you enjoy the galleries!

Heather and Bryant's Wedding Gallery

Heather and Bryant – I had a great time at this entertaining wedding! I laughed when the flower girl took her sweet time down the aisle, when we braved the cold to get some GREAT shots at the Lion Shrine, and of course, Tate’s dancing and hijinx during the reception. The ceremony was glowing with all the natural winter light, and the cold and clear afternoon made it wonderful to shoot the couple at the Alumni Center (although jackets were definitely needed to make it bearable). Thanks again Heather and Bryant for letting me be a part of your wedding day!

Meghan and Mike's Wedding Gallery

Autumn weddings are really wonderful – the warm colors and slanting afternoon light accent the ceremonies of the day. This was a great State College Wedding: we met at the Atherton Hotel, hiked it up to the Alumni Center and Old Main, and then headed to the Eisenhower Chapel for the ceremony. Both Mike and Meghan and company were very patient and endured the chilly weather to get some really great shots at all these locations. The cocktail hour and reception at the Atherton were equally as elegant with lots of mirrors and decorations through out the hotel. I had a great time photographing the all the salsa dancing (I think it was salsa – it has been a while since my formal dance classes at PSU!) as some of the couples were cuttin’ some serious rug. Thanks again Meghan and Mike!

PSU Cycling Club: PSU Mountain Bike Race 2008

I felt the need to fight off impending sleep to get these posted for all you cycling-freaks who were at Penn State Cycling Club’s Mountain Bike Race this weekend. If you think cycling is just a bunch of spandex-clad juicers with too much time to just ride bikes, I beg to differ. There is never enough time to just ride. I got hooked this past year with mountain biking, and so it brought me to a new level of appreciation of the sport.

All stereotypes aside, photographing road and mountain bike races have been some of the most intense events, just because of how much mental and physical energy is demanded of the racers, and the level of risk is just so high.

For now, here’s a preview of Sunday’s XC and Downhill events.

And for those of you with a lot of time on your hands or have a healthy mountain bike obsession, here’s the complete gallery.
