Wilderness 101 Mountain Bike Race

Wilderness 101 Mountain Bike Race

Ahh, another year, another ‘101. At least this year they had drier conditions to race in, as I am sure not many racers missed the fog and soggy rocks. Like clockwork, the leaders came bombing in a little before 9 AM, and the steady stream of riders crossing Three Bridges and the Stupid Rock Garden lasted past 10. Shooting conditions were ideal, as I was able to use the bright spots in the trees to create the speed streaks. And it was great seeing the familiar faces out there riding.

Here is a quick gallery from the 2010 Wilderness 101 Mountain Bike Race.

As always, if you don’t see yourself here, just send me an email and I will see if I can find you. Thanks!

Megan and Ben's Wedding Gallery

I had a great time with Megan and Ben on their special day - from the shots of Megan and her mom beforehand, to the ceremony setting at the Penn State, and finally the fun reception with the family, it was all a very memorable time. My favorite series of images are the one of Megan’s mom and her sister, Megan and Ben seeing each other for the first time, and Megan dragging that guy out to the dance floor. Also, spending time with Ben’s family that morning was really special - I was so happy to be a part of it.

Lauren and Patrick's Wedding Gallery

Lauren and Patrick’s wedding is one to definitely chalk up in the “Ridiculously Fun” category! When putting together this wedding gallery, I was looking for some sweet, low-intensity images from the reception… Alas, I could find very few without someone yelling, crazy dancing, or Elmo from Sesame Street (you’ll see what I mean). Some of my favorite ones are of their grandfather praying before dinner, the guests’ dance floor antics and Lauren’s cousin tying her father’s shoe. And I love the one of Lauren laughing in Pat’s arms during the formal shots - I believe lots of laughing and wonderful memories will follow them wherever they go.

Marysville MASS Mountain Bike Race 2010

Marysville MASS Mountain Bike Race 2010

Blistering heat? Choking dust? Hill climbing for eight hours? Sounds about right for the Marysville MASS Mountain Bike Race. Jeez, I did one lap for fun and went through all of my water and just about keeled over. Throw in a nighttime time trial and a short-track race on Sunday, and that’s a killer weekend. I got lots of goodies (photographically speaking) throughout the weekend, including shots from the Slowest Downhill Challenge and the Huffy Toss. Kudos to Mike Kuhn and team for another great race (remember the Trans-Sylvania Epic? Same promoter!).

Katie and Austin's Wedding Gallery

Set in the wonderful backdrop of the Toftrees Resort in State College, PA, Katie and Austin had their sweet ceremony on the croquet courts and the reception in the main hall. I had a great time during the pre-ceremony shots with Katie and the bridesmaids, working with this gorgeous, singular mirror in their suite. Katie’s wonderful eyes and the charming Mr. Austin made for some great formal images, and the reception photos were full of cupcakes, cigars, and conversations. Plus that crazy guy doing the worm and the other guy doing ninja moves. Yowza!

First off, I have to thank Kristen (and Ethan… but he had a jacket) for braving the 20 degree weather outside for a few shots! It was cold outside, but the stage lighting and great musicians and close friends made for some amazing photography - even though we were mostly confined to being inside. Highlights for me as a photographer were spending time with the ladies getting ready, posing the guys outside in the super-urban setting, and the sweet time with Kristen and Ethan after the ceremony. But as a friend of the couple, it was so great to see two people with big dreams get together and take off - I am really excited to see where they go. Congrats and much love to the couple!

Leah and Matt's Wedding Gallery

I had met Matt and Leah last year at the famous wedding of Meghan and Mike. By the time I was done photographing Matt and Leah’s wedding, I had a great sense of the very special friendship they have within their romantic relationship. And trying to capture that in photographs was challenging and fun at the same time.

I enjoyed spending time with the Leah and ladies as they prepared for the day, and with Matt and the boys out by the river in Bellefonte after the ceremony. We had great weather for photographs outside, and the reception had lots of fun and crazy moments to capture as well.

Blaire and Dan's Wedding Gallery

I met Blaire and Dan at her sister’s wedding last fall and needless to say, I was so happy to work with this wonderful family again! Blaire and Dan broke some of the traditional wedding rules - they had a very intimate ceremony with their families, and then broke out the cupcakes, a skateboard helmet, and dancing for the reception. For the couple’s shots, we made some great photographs outside in the back-lit leaves, and then moved inside for a fancy interior backdrop. Blaire’s beauty and Dan’s stoic demeanor made working with them so easy, and I can readily admit their devotion and love for one another is inspiring. You both have my best as you see the world together!

Wilderness 101 Mountain Bike Race

Wilderness 101 Mountain Bike Race

Well, well… What do we have here? 101 miles of mountain biking through some of the best/rockiest trails PA has to offer? I guess the next best thing to actually riding in the race is photographing it. It was a really damp and humid morning, with plenty of fog and sweaty rocks for the riders to roll over. I got a bit too excited by them coming through a mud puddle (I really needed to set up some off-camera flash to get the shots I wanted), but I think that the back-lit riders coming across the ominous Three Bridges section are some of my favorite mountain biking images yet.

Here is a quick gallery of the Wilderness 101 Mountain Bike Race.

Alaina and Brian's Wedding Gallery

I was really excited to photograph Alaina and Brian’s wedding - she was right in saying that there would be a bunch of energetic kids running around, which made for some great photos! I feel like I was able to get a variety of portrait shots through this wedding, including two of my favorites: one of Brian tickling a screaming Skyler and an up-to-no-good bridesmaid holding a tray of you-know-what. They had bright cloudy weather (which made it great for photos) and a fun reception which ended with a bonfire. Best wishes to Alaina and Brian!
